Manchester United Players look bored says Paul Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says manager Louis van Gaal and players "look bored"

Louis Van Gaal managed to secure a pain staking 1-0 FA Cup third round win over Sheffield United on 9th January 2016. This marks the 10th home game where Utd have failed to score a first half goal.
Scholes is quoted on BT Sport "There just seems to be an acceptance of bad performances,"
"Every time you come to Old Trafford you see negative football."
Although Manchester United are fifth in the Premier League, they have scored just 12 goals in 10 home matches. With fans disappointment being herd with echo's of boo's at every home game at Old Trafford.
By the time Wayne Rooney scored the injury-time winning goal from the penalty spot against the Blades, thousands of fans had already left Old Trafford in what is a clear statement of their disapproval of the teams performance. The red devils did not have a single shot on target until the 69th minute, which was greeted with ironic applause and chants.
"The players looked bored themselves," Scholes said. "There's no spirit, there's nobody having a go at each other, there's no smiling, there's no entertainment.
"I think even Van Gaal on the bench looks bored, but he'll come out and say he's happy.
"People need digging out sometimes. You need to make something happen."
Thanks to Rooney's late penalty, Man Utd avoided a replay. Scholes who has been voicing his opinions is said the performance was unacceptable.
"They didn't create a chance and had to win a game against a League One side with a penalty in the 94th minute," said the former England and Manchester United midfielder, who made 718 appearances for the club.
"In my eyes it's not good enough."
Van Gaal, who has been criticised by fans and ex players for the past few weeks for his possession-based approach, defended his clubs performance.
"It's always difficult to play against such an opponent with 10 or 11 players behind the ball," he said.
"It's more easy to defend than attack and at the end we got the penalty but it was a deserved penalty.
"We won this match and that's the most important thing."

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona "El Clasico", Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 18:15 Live From the Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid

Lionel Messi's knee will keep him out of EL Clasico

The Barcelona star is very unlikely to be available to face Rafael Benitez's side in the November 21 clash, with the forward still recovering from a knee injury.

Unfortunately, things have slowed up and the player still doesn’t have sufficient strength in his knee to begin running continuously,” revealed Miguel on Monday. “That’s to say, he doesn’t have enough time to be back in shape for the Madrid match.”

Neymar and Luis Suarez have been in sensational form in Messi's absence, with the duo both on the scoresheet in Saturday's 2-0 win over Getafe that ensured Luis Enrique side's kept pace with Madrid at the top of the table.

Thankfully for Barcelona, they have two of the world’s best forwards in sensational form, and that will serve them well going to the Bernabeu.

Messi, meanwhile, shouldn’t be too downhearted at missing the Clasico. The 28-year-old must ensure he’s in the best possible shape on returning, ready to help Barca to a strong finish to the 2015-16 term.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona "El Clasico", Sunday, November 23, 2015 at 19:00 Live From the Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid

EL Classico 2015 - Real Madrid vs Barcelona

El Clásico is the football match played between Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Spain’s richest and most successful clubs. The fixture is regarded by many as the biggest football match in the world. As with many key matches of this nature, there is an element of political and nationalistic feeling creeping in – with Madrid being the capital of Spain and Barcelona a hot-bed of Catalan nationalism.

The first match between the two was contested in 1902 when Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-1. Every match since then has been fiercely contested on the pitch and much discussed and analyzed off it!

Real Madrid play their home football at the 85,000-seater Santiago Bernabéu while Barcelona’s home stadium is the Camp Nou which has a capacity just short of 100,000, making it the biggest stadium in Europe.

The biggest win in the Clásico was Real Madrid’s 11-1 thrashing of Barcelona in 1943. The clubs have also drawn 6-6 and 5-5 in 1916 and 1943 respectively. Barcelona’s biggest victory came in 1950 when they beat Madrid 7-2. More recently, Barcelona beat Real 5-0 in 2010.

November's clash at the Bernabeu will be no different. The two sides are tied on 18 points after eight games, and the results from the two respective Clasicos this season will have a major bearing on the outcome of the La Liga title race.

The latest accusations are likely to only increase the tension between the two clubs in the lead-up to their match in the Spanish top flight.

Arsenal vs. Manchester untied, Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 16:00 Live From the Emirates Stadium

The Gunners have the chance to take the lead in the Premier League standings with a win at home on Sunday―providing a few other results go their way―but are coming off a dreadful performance against Olympiakos, which has cast doubt over their ability to progress from the Champions League group stages.
United won their midweek clash against Wolfsburg and lead the Premier League after three consecutive victories

Sunday's clash will tell us a lot about both teams this early in the 2015-16 campaign, and for the Red Devils, it will be their first match against a true title contender. Van Gaal's troops have looked much improved since the 2-1 loss at the hands of Swansea City, and with Arsenal still recovering from the embarrassing loss against Olympiakos, it could be the perfect time to strike.

A win at the Emirates would give the side a huge boost going into a difficult part of the schedule, with a difficult trip to Everton followed by vital matches against CSKA Moscow and rivals Manchester City.

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Arsene Wenger refuses to reveal if he will shake hands with Jose Mourinho

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to reveal if he will shake hands with Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho when the two sides meet each other at Stamford Bridge on 19 September. The frosty relationship between the two managers was evident in the first game of the season, when Wenger refused to shake hands with Mourinho at the final whistle of Arsenal's 1-0 win against Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley.

The two London sides head into the game with contrasting Premier League fortunes. Chelsea have made their worst top-flight start for 29 years after back-to-back defeats to Crystal Palace and Everton left them 17th in the table. Arsenal on the other hand currently lie 4th, recovering from an opening Premier League defeat to West Ham to beat Stoke, Newcastle and Crystal Palace and draw with Newcastle.

Manchester United vs. Liverpool,Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 17:30 Live From the Old Trafford

Manchester United vs. Liverpool may not be a battle between the two teams most likely to compete for this season's Premier League title, but in many ways, it remains the biggest show in town.

The division's most storied teams play out yet another act in one of its most bitter rivalries. Both sets of supporters have among them those who know what it is like to see the other dominate English football.

The United fans who remember Liverpool's glory days are getting a little long in the tooth now. Liverpool fans will be hoping that the current malaise around Old Trafford lasts for a long time to come.

What managers say

Louis van Gaal: "I have a superb relationship with my players. Maybe you have to consider how many players are coming to the manager to say something. In my career as a manager, I didn't have so many players who are coming to say something about the atmosphere in the dressing room, about the way we train, or something like that."

Brendan Rodgers: "United is a huge club and will always be under scrutiny. The intensity of this fixture is still there. The players will feel it. It's a good opportunity for us on the back of a disappointment. It's a chance to put that behind us."

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - Quarter Finals 2014/2015 Tickets - www.1Boxoffice.com

The smoke has cleared and the quarter-finalists of the UEFA Champions League have revealed themselves. After six months of drama on and off the field, the top 32 teams from Europe have been reduced to just eight, who will battle it out for the honour of being Europe’s top club in 2015.
The quarter-final stage will kick off on 14th April but the draw is going to be decided in some hours from now and here’s all you need to know about the impending draw.

Time and Place

The draw is to be held at Nyon, Switzerland from 12 pm-1 pm Central European Time (CET)

Teams who qualified

Teams in UEFA Champions League 2015 quarter-finals
Team Country & League League Position Round of 16 result (Agg score)
Barcelona Spain (La Liga) 1st Manchester City (3-1)
Real Madrid Spain (La Liga) 2nd Schalke (5-4)
Atletico Madrid Spain (La Liga) 4th
Bayer Leverkusen (1-1)
(3-2 on penalties)
Paris Saint-Germain France (Ligue 1) 2nd
Chelsea (3-3)
(on away goals)
AS Monaco France (Ligue 1) 4th
Arsenal (3-3)
(on away goals)
Bayern Munich Germany (Bundesliga) 1st Shakhtar Donetsk (7-0)
Juventus Italy (Serie A) 1st Borussia Dortmund (5-1)
FC Porto Portugal (Primeira Liga) 2nd FC Basel (5-1)

Format

There are three teams from Spain, two from France and one each from Germany, Italy and Portugal.
There are no restrictions for this round, opening up possibilities for teams from the same country to be drawn against each other. With three La Liga teams involved, the chances of an all La Liga quarter-final matchup is very high. So don’t be surprised if we have an early El Clasico on the cards.

Teams to avoid

Going by current form, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the two teams every other club would like to avoid facing at this stage of the competition. Both teams have won their last five matches convincingly.
But with Bayern Munich enjoying a lop-sided domestic season and having to beat a comparatively weaker opposition in the Champions League Round of 16, the Bavarians have not been tested enough this season against quality opponents. So the team everyone would want to avoid will be Barcelona.

Dark Horses

While France’s hopes of winning the tournament will largely rest on Paris Saint-Germain’s shoulders, a much-unfancied AS Monaco can come out as the surprise team of this round.
Monaco might not be an example of flowing and attacking football but what they have been so far, is efficient. Arsenal and Arsene Wenger will tell you all about the pitfalls of taking the French outfit lightly.
In Dimitar Berbatov, Joao Moutinho and Geoffrey Kondogbia, Monaco possess the class, experience and unpredictability to undo any defence. While Danijel Subasic in goal is in the form of his life, Leonardo Jardim’s side might just have another upset tucked away up their sleeve.

Dream draw

While an El Clasico is always a mouth-watering prospect, based on current form a Bayern Munich versus Barcelona clash will be the most tempting for the neutrals.
The clash between two intense, attacking styles is enough to get any football fan drooling. If it isn’t, Pep Guardiola’s tactical manoeuvring to contain an unstoppable Lionel Messi will surely make for an enthralling affair.
Whichever way it does turn out, the draw surely guarantees brilliant football action when the tournament resumes next month.

Barcelona vs. Manchester City,Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 20:45 Live From the Camp Nou

Barcelona vs. Manchester City: 5 Bold Predictions for Champions League 2nd Leg

Barcelona host Manchester City at Camp Nou for the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
Sergio Aguero's late goal and Lionel Messi's last-gasp penalty miss have set things up nicely, and while the Catalans remain in the box-seat, an early goal from the visitors could put a vastly different complexion on the tie.
Barca may well set up differently to combat this and Manuel Pellegrini will know that he has to try something vastly different too in order for the Catalans not to be out of sight before half-time.Let's take a look at five bold predictions for the Champions League second-leg match

1-Luis Suarez Will Be Rested
Despite being the hero in the first leg, Luis Suarez will be benched for the second leg as Luis Enrique opts for a different tactical formation.
It will be harsh on the Uruguayan who has been enjoying some great personal form, but with El Clasico just a few days afterwards, and Barca in the box seat in this tie, Enrique will take the opportunity to switch things around a little.
Should matters not be progressing as the manager would like, then Suarez is a high-quality option to come on later in the game.

2-Industrious City to Disrupt Barca's Passing Game

With the quality of player that Manuel Pellegrini now has at his disposal, it's no surprise that his Manchester City side play some of the most attractive football in the Premier League.
At its best, it's free-flowing and very easy on the eye. It's also extremely effective, as last season's title win showed.
However, Pellegrini will go against his principles in the second leg and play a far more industrious and brutal game in the hope of knocking the Catalans from their perch.
It won't be pretty but if City can get the result needed, you won't hear too many complaints from their fanbase.
They certainly can't play the same brand of football that they tried in the first leg if they want to progress.

3-Mascherano to See Red
It's been a little while since Javier Mascherano saw red for the Blaugrana.
He's come close to adding to the sending off in the first match of the season but has always trodden just the right side of the white line. Not this time. Sergio Aguero is sure to be like a whirling dervish all night, again, and his pace and guile will trouble his compatriot.
It may not be pivotal to the overall result but "Masche" will pay for his indiscretions this time.

4-Kompany to Play Centre-Forward
As the tie draws to its conclusion and with Manchester City looking to secure the result that will see them progress against the Catalans, their captain will switch roles.
A fearsome physical presence, Vincent Kompany will be thrown up front and utilised as a supplementary attacker.
As City revert to long ball tactics, the Belgian stopper will be an extra body to get in among it and cause problems for Barca's back line.

5-

-3-5-2 from Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique is certainly a manager that knows his own mind and is confident enough in his work to stick to his principles.
Heavily criticised earlier in the season for his rotations, Lucho stuck to his guns and Barca have been better for it at this point of the campaign. Against Paris Saint-Germain in the final Champions League group game, which at that point of the season was the most important match for the Catalans, Enrique surprised everyone with a spectacular formation that saw Pedro installed as a wing-back.
It won Barca the game comfortably.
In order to snuff out the danger that Yaya Toure and Fernandinho will present from the middle of the park, Enrique will flood that part of the pitch and utilise another 3-5-2. He'll be hopeful of a similar result to the one against the French champions.

Chelsea v Liverpool- Monday, January 27, 2015 at 19:45 Live From Stamford Bridge

Liverpool v Chelsea: Key Capital One Cup semi-final battles

Ahead of their Capital One Cup semi-final, Matt Stanger looks at the key battles between Liverpool and Chelsea...

It’s fair to say that Costa won this battle the last time these two teams met, scoring the winner in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory at Anfield in November. The 26-year-old proved a handful for Skrtel throughout, managing five shots and creating more shooting opportunities (four) than any other player on the pitch.

Costa embodied the Blues’ fighting spirit, with the image of his ripped shirt flapping in the wind perfectly capturing his dogged display. Skrtel will need to be at the height of his powers to deny the Premier League's top scorer, with the outcome of the first leg potentially hinging on this duel.

Sterling’s pace and trickery will pose a significant threat to the Spaniard, with the Liverpool forward contributing to nine goals (four strikes and five assists) in the Premier League and only five players averaging more dribbles per game.

Henderson, on the other hand, struggled to make an impact in the centre of the pitch. The 24-year-old recorded the worst passing accuracy of any Liverpool player to complete 90 minutes and was also blunt in an attacking sense, failing to create a single chance and firing two shots off-target.

With doubts over Steven Gerrard’s fitness, Lucas’ selection in the middle may give Henderson more licence to roam. His intelligent runs from deep have previously proved effective in creating space for the Reds’ attack, and he will hope to keep Matic busy to allow the likes of Sterling and Philippe Coutinho room to cause problems.

Chelsea vs Manchester City - Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 15:00 Live From Stamford Bridge

Chelsea and Manchester City is not a rivalry rooted in history. It is very much of a time when the football world has shrunk beyond all recognition, where teams in England can reserve as much hostility for Barcelona and Real Madrid as they do for their old foes from down the road. It is a 21st century global village sort of derby, where who your enemies are does not have to be constricted by the bounds of geography

They are two sides who have much in common. Both have emerged in the last 10 years from among the huddled masses of football's also-rans to take their place among the game's genuine elite.

As Roma v Ac Milan- Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:45:00 Live From The Stadio Olimpico

Roma coach Rudi Garcia wants to leave a controversial week behind him and guide his team to victory at home against AC Milan on Saturday.

Garcia was handed a two-match touchline ban by the Lega Serie A for ``aggressive and intimidating conduct'' towards a steward after Sunday's heated encounter in Genoa.
Garcia has denied accusations that he attempted to slap a steward and has launched an appeal to have the punishment overturned.

Garcia, whose side is unbeaten at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A, has warned his players they wil have to keep a close eye on former Roma forward Jeremy Menez.

Milan are 11 points adrift of Roma but Filippo Inzaghi's side has collected seven points of a possible nine in their last three league games to climb to seventh place.

So will it be AS Roma or Ac Milan?, either of these great teams are more than likely to give a worthy performance.
